Geoffrey J. Miller began his career as a Summer Associate with SDV. His practice is devoted to representing policyholders in insurance-related matters with a particular focus on risk transfer and cyber risk.
In addition to representing policyholders in complex, multi-party insurance litigation, Geoff also advises companies on gaps in their insurance programs and manages the indemnity, insurance, and risk transfer agreements for multiple large construction projects in New York. Because Geoff represents policyholders in the procurement and amending of insurance policies, in overseeing risk transfer programs and in litigation against insurance carriers that deny claims, he is able to provide consistent, seamless representation to clients from the day they begin shopping for insurance through the final verdict in an insurance coverage dispute.
Geoff has written about and given presentations on many issues of additional insured coverage, with a focus on downstream risk transfer, as well as cyber risk issues including coverage for cyber-physical losses and the insurance implications of commercial drone use, artificial intelligence, driverless cars and blockchain technology.
In law school, Geoff worked with a leading scholar in cybersecurity law and completed internships at the Office of Connecticut Public Defenders, the Connecticut State's Attorney's Office and at the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut. Geoff also served as an Associate Editor of Law Review and was the recipient of a number of awards, including CALI Excellence for the Future Awards® in contracts, criminal, cybercrime and evidence, as well as the Aspen Law and Business Award for Excellence in the Study of Evidence and the Connecticut Scholars Scholarship.
In his spare time, Geoff enjoys carpentry and once built his own house. He is also a competitive ultrarunner and obstacle course racer as well as a food enthusiast with a particular affinity for donuts. Geoff resides with his family in North Haven, Connecticut.
