Celia B. Waters (nee Keniry) focuses her practice on insurance litigation matters, with an emphasis on large complex property damage claims. Celia is a member of the firm's Power and Energy practice group and has handled a number of complicated Builders Risk insurance disputes with respect to large construction projects and central utility plants across the country. Celia also assists clients with contract and insurance policy reviews.
Prior to law school, Celia earned a B.A. with a double major in Political Science and Sociology and a minor in International Studies, while earning a paralegal certificate at the same time. She worked as a paralegal for a year before attending law school, where she was the Symposium Editor of the Public Interest Law Journal. After taking a number of insurance law classes, Celia focused her career on this area of law and has completed her LL.M. in Insurance Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2019.
Celia speaks with some regularity at conferences on insurance coverage topics and has been selected as a New England Super Lawyers' Rising Star from 2017 - 2020. She is also the Chair of the firm's Philanthropy Committee and spends her pro-bono time advocating for abused and neglected children with Lawyers for Children American. She resides with her husband and two children in Woodbridge, CT, where she was also recently elected to the town's Zoning Board Of Appeals.
