Ryan G. Nelson comes to SDV following a career in the military, having spent several years in the U.S. Marine Corps prior to law school, where he rose to the rank of Captain and served various billets as an Artillery Officer. Ryan was also the proud recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for meritorious service from 2011 through 2016.
While in law school, Ryan was the Moot Court Honors Board CEO and served as Associate Editor of the Law Review and the International Law Journal. He was also a judicial extern for the Hon. Justice Judith Haller of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District.
Working out of the firm's West Coast office, Ryan works on a diverse mix of cases representing policyholders, ranging from individuals to international companies. He plays a critical role in securing insurance coverage for policyholders facing a broad array of losses, including catastrophic construction events, environmental accidents, construction defects, and homeowner losses. He is a member of the firm's Natural Disaster Recovery Practice Group, which focuses on helping clients manage risk and recovery losses, on behalf of policyholders, after a natural disaster.
In his spare time, Ryan enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, camping, working on cars, and watching football. He currently resides in Carlsbad, CA.
