Guertin has been named Managing Partner of SDV’s Northeast office, effective January 1, 2020. “We eagerly embrace Theresa’s new leadership role, as Managing Partner, where she will be a guiding force in the firm’s anticipated future growth and development,” says Partner, Jeffrey J. Vita.
Theresa has an active litigation practice, and she is co-chair of the firm’s Risk Transfer group. She represents clients in claims for coverage in a diverse array of matters which include property damage and bodily injury related to mold and asbestos, directors & officers and professional liability claims, employment disputes, and construction defects.
Theresa has extensive experience in developing and rewriting insurance procurement language to meet the changing demands of the insurance and construction industries. She works directly with contractors and broker clients to identify potential deficiencies in policies before they are issued and assists in the negotiation of more favorable terms at policy renewal. Theresa is a sought-after speaker and has been a frequent presenter on insurance-related topics at conferences, seminars and webinars.
For four consecutive years, Theresa has been named as a Super Lawyers' Rising Star (2015 - 2019). She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Insurance Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, after having spent two second consecutive terms as its Legislative Liaison. She also serves on the Executive Board of the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity, whose mission is to make Connecticut a more attractive place for women and attorneys of color to practice law. Theresa is a member of the firm's Executive Committee and also serves on its Philanthropic Committee.
