Today’s Employee Spotlight features Phil Brown-Wilusz, an attorney in SDV’s Northeast office. In addition to being a busy lawyer, Phil is also a member of the firm’s Philanthropic Committee and coordinates SDV’s men’s basketball team.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like the complexity of the cases we handle, which requires more creative thinking then in other areas of the law.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a part of the SDV team?
A: The collaborative environment that we have fostered here, where everyone works as a team. Everyone is always willing to help each other out and it makes SDV a great place to work.
Q: Name one thing on your bucket list.
A: It’s a bit nerdy, but I would love to do the “Lord of the Rings” walk in New Zealand and see where the movies were filmed.
Q: Greatest accomplishment?
A: Graduating law school and passing the bar. Although my answer will likely change come April when my wife and I are due to have our first child!
Q: Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
A: I’m an avid basketball player and play in a band with a few friends including Pat Mulligan, one of the paralegals here. I also have taken up sailing recently, although my wife has a better knack for finding the wind when steering then I do!
Q: What are you most grateful for?
A: My family, especially my wife, Kim, and my friends.
Q: If you could choose a superpower, what would it be and why?
A: I’d choose to fly. Has anyone ever picked anything else?!?
Q: What is your favorite line from a movie?
A: “Get off my plane” Harrison Ford in Air Force One.
Q: If you could pick one thing to change in the world, what would it be?
A: It would be great if everyone could treat each other with some more compassion and understanding.
Q: Do you have a mantra or quote you like to live by?
A: My high school motto “Quod Facis Bene Fac” which translates to “What you do, do well”. That quote always stuck with me!
