Today’s Employee Spotlight features Carissa Gerry of SDV’s West Coast office. Carissa is the Business Development Associate and Office Manager of SDVWC, and we would like to shine some light on one of the reasons the office runs so well.
Q: Where are you from? (born/grew up)
A: Temecula – where our CA office is!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I've always felt encouraged to pursue opportunities for growth.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a part of the SDV team?
A: I really enjoy the people I work with.
Q: Name one thing on your bucket list.
A: See the Northern Lights.
Q: Greatest accomplishment?
A: Recently getting my MBA!
Q: Pick three words to describe yourself.
A: Easygoing, creative, optimistic
Q: Do you have a mantra or quote you like to live by?
A: It’s not so much a quote, but my husband and I ask each other daily, “What was your happy moment of the day?” This reflection reminds us to find the bright side even on our worst days.
Q: Have you done any volunteering? If so what is your favorite memory?
A: I’ve been a Rotarian for three years now and regularly volunteer in the Temecula Valley community with various non-profits. My favorite experience was traveling to Mexicali with my Rotary club and husband earlier in the year (pre-pandemic) to help paint a school for the deaf and visit a local church community center to provide children in need with food, school supplies, and gifts. We were embraced by the community with warmth and gratitude that overcame our language barriers – the whole weekend left us humbled, and eager to continue giving back.
Q: What are you most grateful for?
A: My support system.
Q: Tell us something that would surprise us about you.
A: I’m artsy. I feel most fulfilled when I’m doing something creative like writing poetry, painting, drawing, taking portraits, or starting an entirely new project.
