Jeremiah M. Welch is co-chair of the firm's Risk Transfer Group. His practice is focused on risk transfer and insurance recovery, advising on risk transfer program design as well as improvements to existing programs. Jeremiah is frequently called upon to advise on the impact of new developments in legislation and case law affecting risk transfer in both the U.S. and in emerging international markets, and provides counsel to brokers and clients with self-insured and/or self-administered risk on issues of regulatory compliance.
Jeremiah also has an active litigation practice, representing clients in a variety of insurance recovery matters nationwide. His experience includes large scale construction and natural disasters, as well as terrorism related mass tort coverage and catastrophic commercial property loss and business interruption.
Jeremiah frequently presents on a variety of topics, for both clients and brokers as well as at large national conferences, and has authored numerous publications.
Jeremiah is Managing Partner of SDV West and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. Prior to joining SDV, he was a partner in a prominent Los Angeles defense firm representing professional and corporate clients through all phases of litigation, including trial and arbitration. A U.S. Army Veteran and Connecticut native, Jeremiah joined SDV in 2007 and returned to California in 2016 to establish the firm's west coast office. He currently resides in Fallbrook, California with his family.
