Eric Clarkson began his career as an attorney at SDV's West Coast office after extensive public interest work with private non-profits, California's state and federal courts, and San Diego County's Office of the District Attorney.
As an invaluable member of SDV's team, Eric has advised risk managers, brokers, and a range of large commercial clients on numerous coverage and contractual risk transfer issues. He has also represented clients facing a diverse range of liabilities including those arising out of employment practices, construction operations, products and contractual obligations. Eric recent work on behalf of policy holders has involved seeking coverage for catastrophic property losses as well as regulatory and environmental business interruption claims. This work on first-party property loss claims has become of particular importance with the ongoing disputes over the extent of insurance coverage for the economic impacts of COVID-19.
While in law school, Eric served as the Executive Editor for the California Western's Law Review and as the Trial Team Coordinator for the school's Moot Court Honors Board. He also assisted several professors with research and revisions for articles and books pending publication. Eric's interest in coverage work is peaked by the intellectual and strategic challenges of assessing clients' potential risk transfer solutions when ensnared in complex litigation.
In his spare time Eric enjoys trail running, cycling, and back country camping, as well as following to the world-renowned jazz and classical music scene in southern California.
