Damian S. Barquin is an Associate based in the firm’s Southeast office where he focuses his practice on policyholder advocacy. As a member of SDV’s nationwide legal team, Damian represents commercial policyholders across the country in complex insurance coverage disputes against insurance carriers.

Damian began his career as an insurance coverage attorney after graduating from the firm’s Summer Associate program and then working as a Law Clerk. Prior to joining the SDV team, Damian worked as a judicial intern for Senior Judge Paul C. Huck in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Damian's legal experience also includes work in federal bankruptcy court and immigration law.

While attending law school at the University of Miami School of Law, Damian was honored with the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement Award in Legislation and received the Dean's Merit Scholarship for his academic performance. He also served on the Inter-American Law Review as Staff Editor.

Damian is fluent in conversational Spanish. In his free time, he enjoys learning how to cook new meals or perfecting the craft of old favorites, working out, and reading classic literature with a bias towards American fiction.
