October 12, 2020, at 1 PM Eastern
As businesses reopen amid rising COVID-19 cases, employers must navigate the hurdles of maintaining a safe workplace during a pandemic. In an effort to limit exposure and minimize the spread, California recently passed AB 685, which expanded employee protection from workplace hazards to include exposure to COVID-19. This legislation mandates employers to provide specific notifications to its employees, as well as local public health agencies, in the event of a COVID-19 exposure in the workplace. This webinar will walk you through the requirements outlined in this bill and best practices that should be considered to avoid potential penalties and lawsuits. This discussion will also address similar action taken by other states, as well as an overview of relevant insurance that may be implicated, such as Workers’ Compensation, Employers’ Liability, and Employment Practices Liability Insurance.
Key topics to be discussed:
• The motivation behind AB 685 and its potential impact
• Specific notification requirements employers must follow
• Best practices to adhere to specific employee protections under AB 685
• Overview of related legislation in California and nationwide
• Analysis of insurance that may be implicated and how to ensure you have the right coverage
