PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Cheryl L. Kozdrey joined SDV's West Coast team following a career in Healthcare Administration. Her practice is dedicated exclusively to policyholder representation throughout the insurance claims process and coverage dispute litigation against insurance carriers. She currently represents national and local healthcare organizations through complex D&O coverage litigation, as well as commercial property and business interruption claims. Cheryl is also working on some of the most significant construction defect cases in the country. In addition, she advises risk managers, in-house counsel, insurance brokers, and other industry professionals on optimal risk transfer strategies and insurance solutions, including key considerations for Commercial General Liability, Professional Liability, and Builders Risk policies. She assists clients with initial policy reviews, as well as renewals and modifications of existing policies to ensure coverage needs are satisfied.

Cheryl's prior experience in the healthcare industry spans over ten years. Before joining SDV, she managed all aspects of ophthalmic surgical services, including Lasik, refractive cataract surgery, and oculoplastic procedures. Her extensive background in healthcare informs her current legal practice.

While in law school, Cheryl received numerous academic excellence awards, including the Justice Anthony Kennedy Scholarship. She served as the Executive Director of Notes and Comments for both Law Review and the International Law Journal and was also an academic tutor in Contracts and Legal Writing. Cheryl's law school intern/externships included work with the Honorable Gonzalo Curiel of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California and with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office, both in San Diego. She graduated 5th in her class and was recognized as a Public Service Honor Society member for her volunteer service with the United States government.
